Lawesson's reagent is a chemical agent used to convert carbonyl groups into thiocarbonyls, a process known as thiation. It is widely employed in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry research for the preparation of thioamides and heterocycles in vitro. This reagent should be kept away from strong oxidizers.
