VU590 is a potent, moderately selective inhibitor of the extrarenal medullary potassium channel ROMK (Kir1.1) . It also inhibits Kir7.1 and has been used in research to study uterine contractility and melanocortin signaling pathways in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
