AZD-3409 is a potent prenyl transferase inhibitor with greater cytotoxicity than lonafarnib in various cell lines, including MEF, A549, and MCF7 cells. It preferentially inhibits protein farnesylation over geranylgeranylation and shows potential activity in models of gefitinib-resistant breast cancer, supporting its use in oncology research for studying resistance mechanisms.
