L 680833 is a synthetic, orally bioavailable monocyclic β-lactam compound that potently and selectively inhibits human neutrophil elastase (HNE) . This inhibitor is utilized in research exploring inflammatory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis, with applications in both in vitro enzymatic assays and in vivo animal models of lung injury.
