Dalvastatin
Dalvastatin (RG-12561) is an orally bioavailable HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that lowers cholesterol synthesis. It competitively inhibits rat hepatic HMG-CoA reductase with an IC50 of 3.4 nM and shows an ED50 of 0.9 mg/kg for inhibiting cholesterol biosynthesis in rat liver sections in vivo.
