Monactin
Monactin is a macrotetrolide antibiotic, structurally related to nonactin, and is produced by certain Streptomyces species. It functions as a potassium ionophore and is widely used in biochemical research to study ion transport mechanisms in both in vitro membrane models and in vivo cellular systems.
