Crocin
Crocin, a water-soluble carotenoid from saffron, is used in food coloring and traditional medicine. Research indicates it inhibits TNF-alpha-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells by modulating Bcl-2 family proteins and caspase-3, and it stabilizes glutathione to block nSMase activity. Its applications extend to neuroprotection and oncology research in vitro.
