R-1663 is a selective factor Xa inhibitor that prolongs clotting times and suppresses thrombin generation in a concentration-dependent manner, with a greater effect on peak thrombin (IC50 194 ng/mL) than on endogenous thrombin potential. It is used in research applications for studying anticoagulant mechanisms and thrombosis models in vitro and in vivo, without prolonging bleeding time at effective concentrations.
