RP-72540 is a selective cholecystokinin B receptor (CCKB) antagonist with high affinity for gastrin binding sites and a 200-fold selectivity over CCKA receptors. It inhibits [3H]pCCK-8 binding in vitro but exhibits minimal brain penetration in vivo, making it a useful tool for studying peripheral CCKB/gastrin receptor functions in gastrointestinal research.
