RS-93522 is a calcium channel antagonist that also inhibits phosphodiesterase in myocardial homogenates with potency comparable to milrinone. It exhibits negative inotropic effects on cultured cardiac cells, making it a useful research tool for studying cardiac excitation-contraction coupling and inotropic mechanisms in vitro.
