Leucomycin A5, a component of the leucomycin complex isolated from Streptomyces kitasatoensis, exhibits antibacterial activity against various Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria. It is useful for in vitro microbiological research, particularly in studies involving penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pyogenes and Enterococcus faecalis, with typical MIC values ranging from 0.04 to 3.2 μg/ml.
