Ethoxyquin dimer, a metabolite of the antioxidant ethoxyquin, is used in research to study oxidative stress and hepatotoxicity. In vivo studies in mice have shown that dietary administration can induce hepatic steatosis and necrosis, elevating liver oxidized glutathione and total lipid levels.
