Bromamphenicol is a dibrominated chloramphenicol derivative that potently inhibits bacterial and mitochondrial protein synthesis, as well as DNA synthesis in human cells. It also binds to the E. coli adhesin DraE, making it a useful research tool for studying antibiotic mechanisms and bacterial adhesion in vitro.
