6-Formylpterin
6-Formylpterin is a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitor (Ki ~0.6 nM) with demonstrated neuroprotective effects in gerbil models of transient ischemia-reperfusion injury. In vitro, it modulates immune cell function by inducing intracellular ROS and apoptosis in HL-60 cells while restoring bactericidal activity in human neutrophils via iNOS inhibition and hydrogen peroxide production.
