This fluorescence-quenched peptide substrate enables sensitive, continuous measurement of human neutrophil elastase (HNE) activity via hydrolysis (kcat/Km = 531 mM−1s−1) . It is widely used in vitro for inhibitor screening and kinetic studies relevant to inflammatory diseases like COPD and cystic fibrosis.
