AX 048 is a potent and selective inhibitor of cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2α), effectively blocking arachidonic acid release with an XI (50) of 0.022. It demonstrates in vivo efficacy by reducing carrageenan-induced thermal hyperalgesia (ED50 = 1.2 mg/kg) and shows no activity against COX or central cannabinoid receptors at 30 μM, making it a valuable tool for studying eicosanoid-mediated inflammation.
