D-DOPA

D-DOPA, the enantiomer of L-DOPA, is a research compound used to study dopaminergic systems. In vitro, it can be converted to L-DOPA via DAAO and transaminase, affecting neuronal cultures. In vivo studies show it modulates striatal dopamine levels and induces contralateral rotation in 6-OHDA rat models of Parkinson's disease.
