MES (2-Morpholinoethanesulphonic acid) is a zwitterionic Good's buffer effective between pH 5.5 and 7.7. It is widely employed to maintain physiological pH in plant tissue culture, protein biochemistry assays, and both in vitro and cell culture experimental systems.
