Keratin K71, IRS1 (Inner Root Sheath 1)

May be stored at 4 °C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 °C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes human keratin K71 (57.3kD polypeptide; calculated from sequence data). The antiserum stains specifically the Henle, Huxley and cuticle layer of the inner root sheath (irs) of the hair follicle. Although there is a considerable sequence homology of keratin K71 to keratins K5 and K6, no crossreactivity was observed with Western Blot and immunofluorescence microscopy.
