Phototrexate
Phototrexate is a photoswitchable methotrexate analog that acts as a potent inhibitor of human DHFR. Its antifolate activity is activated to a cis-form (IC50 = 6 nM) by 375 nm UVA light and deactivated to a trans-form by blue light or thermally. This enables precise, light-controlled modulation of cell proliferation in cancer research models like HeLa cells.
