Balsalazide
Balsalazide is a prodrug anti-inflammatory agent used to treat ulcerative colitis and studied in inflammatory bowel disease research. It is employed in both in vitro assays and in vivo animal models to investigate its local effects on colonic mucosa and its mechanism of action via the release of mesalamine.
