Cytokeratin 8,18
Product Specifications
NCBI Gene ID
3856
Reactivity
Human
Storage Conditions
May be stored at 4 °C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 °C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 °C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Specificity
Recognizes human cytokeratins with molecular weights 52 and 45kD, corresponding to cytokeratins 8 and 18, respectively. Useful in the detection of adenocarcinomas, mesotheliomas and certain squamous epithelia-derived carcinomas. Interestingly, some epithelial tumors demonstrate cytokeratin 8 and 18 expression, but normal strati ed squamous epithelium does not.
