Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It is widely used as a selection agent in molecular biology to identify cells transfected with neomycin resistance genes, applicable in both in vitro cell culture and in vivo animal model studies.
