Dequalinium chloride is a selective blocker of apamin-sensitive potassium channels, used as a topical antimicrobial agent in wound care and oral hygiene. Its research applications include in vitro studies of SK channel function and investigations into its bacteriostatic and potential antifungal mechanisms. A noted side effect is the risk of local skin ulceration.
