Perhexiline maleate
Perhexiline maleate is an orally bioavailable small molecule that inhibits carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1) and 2 (CPT2), thereby reducing fatty acid oxidation. With IC50 values of 77 μM (rat heart CPT1) and 148 μM (rat liver CPT1), it is a research tool for studying cardiac metabolism and ischemia in both in vitro and in vivo models.
