Acarbose
Acarbose (BAY g 5421) is a potent alpha-glucosidase inhibitor (IC50=11 nM) used as a hypoglycemic agent in research. It is applied in studies of type 2 diabetes, both in vitro for enzyme kinetics and in vivo to investigate its synergistic effects with insulin or sulfonylureas on postprandial glucose control.
