Pivagabine (CXB-722) is a hydrophobic GABA derivative with neuromodulatory properties, capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier. In vivo rat studies demonstrate its ability to modulate stress responses by affecting GABAA receptor function and normalizing brain corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) levels.
