Gatifloxacin (CG5501) is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. It is widely used in research for studying antibacterial mechanisms and efficacy in both in vitro susceptibility assays and in vivo infection models.
