Phenazopyridine hydrochloride (Pyridium) is an oral urinary analgesic with known side effects including nausea, methemoglobinemia, hemolytic anemia, and hepatorenal toxicity. It is also classified as a reasonably anticipated human carcinogen. This compound is used in research models investigating drug-induced toxicities and chemical carcinogenesis.
