Pixantrone dimaleate, also known as BBR 2778, is a synthetic aza-anthracenedione investigational agent for research use. It functions as a DNA intercalator and topoisomerase II inhibitor, with demonstrated antitumor activity in both in vitro cell line studies and in vivo animal models of lymphoma and breast cancer.
