Pimecrolimus (SDZ-ASM 981) is a calcineurin inhibitor that forms a complex with FKBP-12, blocking calcineurin-mediated calcium signaling. This immunosuppressant is widely used in research for studying T-cell activation and has applications in both in vitro assays and in vivo models of inflammatory skin diseases.
