Alda-1 is a cell-permeable small molecule activator of mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), effective for both the wild-type (ALDH21) and the Asian variant (E487K, ALDH22) . It is widely used in research to investigate alcohol metabolism, cardiovascular protection, and ischemic injury in both cellular and animal models.
