Toyocamycin (Vengicide) is an adenosine analog and potent XBP1 inhibitor, blocking IRE1α-mediated XBP1 mRNA splicing with an IC50 of 80 nM. This activity induces apoptosis, making it a valuable tool for studying the unfolded protein response in cancer and other disease models, both in vitro and in vivo.
