Almotriptan (LAS 31416) is a selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist used as a triptan medication for migraine. Its mechanism involves cranial vasoconstriction, which redistributes blood flow by increasing cerebral circulation while reducing extracerebral vessel flow.
