Atorvastatin is an oral HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that lowers lipids via cytochrome P450 activation. It inhibits human SV-SMC cell proliferation and invasion with IC50 values of 0.39 μM and 2.39 μM, respectively. Research applications include studying cardiovascular disease mechanisms and drug interactions, such as a potential pro-thrombotic effect when combined with clopidogrel.
