Nifursol is a synthetic nitrofuran derivative employed as an antimicrobial feed additive in poultry to control histomoniasis (blackhead disease) . Its application in veterinary research involves both in vivo studies for disease prevention and in vitro investigations of its antiprotozoal activity against Histomonas meleagridis.
