Oxysophoridine (Sophoridine N-oxide) is a neuroprotective and cardioprotective small molecule. Research indicates its efficacy in models of cerebral ischemia and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is attributed to its antioxidant, anti-apoptotic, and anti-inflammatory properties, including modulation of NMDA receptor NR1 expression.
