GW4869 is a cell-permeable, non-competitive inhibitor of neutral sphingomyelinase (N-SMase) with an IC50 of 1 μM. It is widely used in both in vitro and in vivo research to block ceramide-mediated exosome biogenesis and secretion, making it a key pharmacological tool for studying extracellular vesicle biology and intercellular communication.
