N, N'-Dimethylthiourea (DMTU) is an orally active hydroxyl radical scavenger isolated from garlic. It inhibits OH− production by neutrophils in vitro and has demonstrated protective effects against stress-induced gastric lesions in rat models through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
