Clinofibrate (Lipoclin) is a lipid-lowering agent that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase (IC50 = 0.47 mM) . It is used in research to study cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism, with applications in both in vitro enzymatic assays and in vivo models of hyperlipidemia.
