BAI1 is a potent small molecule Bax channel blocker that inhibits Bax-induced cytochrome c release from mitochondria with an IC50 of 0.52 μM. It is a valuable research tool for studying apoptosis mechanisms in cellular models and has been used in vitro to investigate cardioprotection and neuroprotection.
