Buthionine Sulfoximine
L-Buthionine- (S, R) -sulfoximine (BSO) is a potent, cell-permeable, and irreversible inhibitor of γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase, the rate-limiting enzyme in glutathione (GSH) biosynthesis. By depleting intracellular GSH, it is a widely used tool to induce oxidative stress and study related mechanisms in cancer research, neurobiology, and toxicology across both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
