(±) -Methyl Jasmonate
Methyl jasmonate is a plant signaling molecule that induces proteinase inhibitor synthesis in leaves. In cancer research, it selectively inhibits mitochondrial-bound hexokinase, suppressing proliferation and inducing apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. Derivatives also show potential as anti-inflammatory agents.
