Meranzin is a bioactive small molecule isolated from Murraya exotica L. and the TCM formula Chaihu-Shugan-San. It acts as an alpha 2-adrenoceptor agonist, activating the AMPA-ERK1/2–BDNF pathway, and demonstrates anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in preclinical studies, supporting research into atherosclerosis-depression comorbidity.
