Seneciphylline
Seneciphylline is a mutagenic and hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloid, shown to transfer into rat milk. It modulates key hepatic detoxification enzymes, inducing epoxide hydrolase and glutathione-S-transferase while suppressing cytochrome P-450. This compound is used in toxicology research to study metabolic activation, detoxification pathways, and chemical hepatotoxicity in vitro and in vivo.
