Pivmecillinam hydrochloride is an orally administered prodrug of the extended-spectrum penicillin mecillinam (amdinocillin) . It is primarily active against Gram-negative bacteria and is used in research involving both in vitro antimicrobial studies and in vivo models of bacterial infection.
