Dantrolene is a postsynaptic muscle relaxant that acts by antagonizing ryanodine receptors, thereby inhibiting the release of Ca2+ from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. It is widely used in research applications, including in vitro muscle physiology studies and in vivo models of malignant hyperthermia and muscle spasticity.
