Chiniofon
Chiniofon (Ferron) is a halogenated 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative used as an antiamebic agent. It acts by inhibiting intestinal commensal bacteria, thereby treating intestinal amoebic dysentery, but is ineffective against extra-intestinal parasites. This small molecule is utilized in microbiological and parasitology research, including in vitro studies of bacterial inhibition and historical in vivo models of intestinal infection.
