An alpha-1 adrenergic agonist that causes prolonged peripheral vasoconstriction. (In Vivo) :Methoxamine (0.025 mg/kg; femoral vein) hydrochloride has a greater effect on peripheral resistance vessels than on Winkessel vessels in the rat systemic circulation.
