This item detects the tetanus toxin which is produced by the soil micro-organism Clostridium tetani. C. tetani infection results in its systemic growth and secretion of tetanus, which causes muscle spasms by inhibiting neurotransmitter release. <br> <br>The antibody also reacts with the C-fragment of tetanus toxin.
